Niagara, Ontario – The Women In Niagara (WIN) council with the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce will be presenting a luncheon event to mark International Women’s Day to take place on Friday March 4th at the Americana Conference Resort and Spa in Niagara Falls.
Keynote speaker Erica Ehm
WIN is pleased to announce Erica Ehm as they keynote speaker for the 16th annual IWD celebration. Erica Ehm was the voice of her generation for a decade as one of the first hosts on Canada’s national music video channel, Much Music.
Erica went on to be a songwriter, television contributor; author and creator of one of Canada’s largest independently owned online magazines – YummyMummyClub.ca. Her numerous awards include Golds for Best Blog and Independent Publisher of the Year from the Canadian Online Publishing Awards, and Leading Women Building Communities Award from the Ontario Government.
Erica is dedicated to providing women with a digital outlet that is innovative and creative. Along with maintaining her growing business, Erica is a member of the Inside Digital Advisory Board, and on the Mattel Barbie Global Advisory Board, where her innovative thinking is helping forecast the progressive evolution of the Barbie brand.
“Erica is an inspiring woman with a unique background that combines creativity and entrepreneurial skills. She provides a fresh perspective on female empowerment,” explains WIN council Chair Ruth Unrau. “She is a wonderful role model, and as a social entrepreneur she has successfully launched and built a significant organization that is providing comfort and guidance for mothers and women.”
The luncheon, which is sponsored by the Meridian Credit Union and PenFinancial Credit Union, will also feature an International Women’s Day Award that will be presented to Pamela Minns for her leadership and achievements for the Niagara Region. Pamela is an active volunteer in the community, working to enhance our beautiful and historic region as a member of Heritage Thorold. She has completed many preservation projects, and has been recognized for her efforts with an award presented by Architectural Conservancy of Ontario.
The event will also feature a silent auction with all proceeds going toward a bursary for a woman in Niagara to attend Leadership Niagara.
“Leadership Niagara explores and strengthens leadership skills in order to develop a new-found network of meaningful contacts, as well as learning more about the outstanding characteristics and challenges of our community,” continues Unrau. “This opportunity is unique as it will provide a woman in Niagara with the tools to take on leadership roles in order to promote a Pledge for Parity.”
