“It’s an honour and a pleasure to be voted in by my Board colleagues as Chair of the NPCA Board for 2016,” stated Councillor Timms. “We had a very successful year, and I look forward to continuing our work, particularly with so many important projects currently in progress such as; exploring biodiversity offsetting, Welland River floodplain mapping, NPCA policy review and the Niagara River Remedial Action Plan.”

“I also look forward to working with Conservation Ontario and the other 35 Conservation Authorities across Ontario regarding the Conservation Authorities Act Review and exploring the wetlands issues for Niagara.”

Timms has served on the NPCA Board of Directors since 2010.

Fort Erie’s Regional Councillor, Sandy Annunziata, was elected as Vice-Chair for a second consecutive term. He stated, “We’ve taken previous black and white issues from property owners, residents, investors and conservationists and injected colour into them. We’ve transformed from a talking Authority to a listening Authority. We have a dynamic staff that continues to show its concern for an economically prosperous Niagara and a healthy, vibrant watershed. Under this leadership, we will not choose one over the other. The two can co-exist and we’ll strive every day to achieve those goals”

NPCA board members elect a Chair and Vice-Chair at each Annual General Meeting, which is the first meeting of each calendar year.
