St. Catharines, Ontario – Walter Sendzik, Mayor of St. Catharines, will address his community at the 2016 State of the City event, the second of its kind, presented by the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC).

At this annual event, the Mayor shares his civic vision for the future of the city, and the means by which it is to be realized. Since his election in October 2014, Mayor Sendzik has been a force for change in St. Catharines and Niagara. With so many new developments on the horizon, 2016 is sure to be a remarkable year.
“These addresses provide unique insight into what our municipal leaders have in store for the future,” said Ian Kowalchuk, Chair of the GNCC’s Board of Directors and Partner at Merit Contractors Niagara. “We’ve already had great discussions and progress on issues like updated infrastructure, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the Mayor plans for 2016.”
“My new vision is to make this the most dynamic, innovative, sustainable and livable city in North America,” Mayor Sendzik said. These are ambitious goals, but Sendzik is convinced that they are achievable for a community such as this. “Tell me I can’t do something,” he dared naysayers. “I’ll find a way to do it. That’s what I’ve always done.”
“There are many exciting things going on in St. Catharines, like the recent opening of the Performing Arts Centre and the ongoing success of the Meridian Center. We’re seeing some great development going on and real dynamism in our leaders and our community,” said Mishka Balsom, President and CEO of the GNCC.
The State of the City luncheon will take place on January 29, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Club Roma, on 125 Vansickle Road, St. Catharines.
