Be Part Of Canada’s Largest March Yet For Action On Climate Change

A Call-Out to Canadians from Avaaz, a global online citizens organization

November 2015 – In days, world leaders will be in Paris deciding on a climate deal that could save the planet, and we’re helping to organize a massive march on November 29th in Ottawa to show our new PM that the time for action is now — but we need everyone’s help to make it huge.

Together we made thousands of calls to voters to help win a new government for Canada, and now we can get PM Trudeau to support a planet-saving climate deal in Paris if we hit the phone lines again!

We know citizen-to-citizen calling works — progressive parties won every riding we called into in the election last month! So we’re asking Avaaz members across the country to personally call other Avaazers in Ottawa and ask them to march for a 100% clean future.

Let’s make this the moment citizens stood up and helped save the planet — click now to sign up for a call session using the link below and get all the information you need to help:

YES, I’LL VOLUNTEER

After this November’s horrific attacks, the French government just announced the Paris Global Climate Conference will go ahead as planned — and so will our global day of action. But out of fear or sadness, many in Paris itself — the biggest march planned — may stay home.

That makes it more important than ever for those of us elsewhere to turn out in huge numbers, to stand together and fight terror by showing what peaceful and powerful determination to solve one of the world’s greatest challenges looks like. People are organizing marches in cities across Canada, and all over the world, and we’re working to help make the 100% Possible march in Ottawa enormous to send a powerful message to our new PM.avaaz climate march

With our new government making crucial decisions about climate policy right now, it’s no exaggeration to say that every connection we make could have an impact on our future. During the election we contacted 4,000 voters, let’s call 4,000 Avaaz members in Ottawa to let them know about the march!

YES, I’LL VOLUNTEER

Avaazers making calls will be able to log-in to a website that will have all the information you need to talk confidently to other Avazzers in Ottawa. All that’s needed is a computer and a phone (and don’t worry, no long distance charges!).

It can feel scary to talk to someone in a totally different part of the country about any issue, but we’re going to be calling other Avaaz members, many of whom have already taken action on issues like climate change or on human rights — we’re all part of the same big community.

Avaaz is about working together to courageously close the gap between the world we have and the world most people want. If we let our courage help us make these connections we can help win a climate policy for Canada that we can all be proud of. Let’s make it happen:

YES, I’LL VOLUNTEER

For 10 years, our previous government led Canada down a path of climate destruction, but with our new government has come a new hope for planet-saving climate policy — we just need to show our new PM that this is the top issue for Canadians. The march is right around the corner, and (after the terrorist attacks this November), it’s more important than ever — let’s hit the phone lines. With hope, Ari, Danny, Emma, Ricken, Melanie, Evan, Ben, and the rest of the Avaaz team

  1. Similar rallies are planned for November 29 in communities all around the globe. Niagara residents are encouraged to join the march and rally in Hamilton. Here’s a message from Hamilton 350 and Environment Hamilton:

We are organizing a rally/march to bring attention to #COP21 talks in #Paris. #Hamilton2Paris is a grassroots initiative supported by various Non-Governmental Organizations across #Hamont that want to empower and endorse #ClimateAction in our city. The rally takes place at Hamilton City Hall (71 West Main Street, Hamilton) on Sunday, November 29, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Various groups (faith groups, environmental groups, labour, etc.) are meeting up at different places in the city to march together to City Hall. Check this out:
