A Message from Ontario’s NDP
(A Brief Preface from NAL – This message is a response to a threat issued by Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne to dock the pay of elementary school teachers and support workers in elementary schools across the province if a contract settlement is not reached with the government by November 1st.)
Queen’s Park, October 23rd – Ontario NDP Education Critic Lisa Gretzky issued the following statement.
“Like all parents and students across the province, New Democrats are relieved that the government has finally agreed to return to the negotiating table with teachers and education workers.
However, today’s threat from the Premier carries a real risk of creating more chaos in our schools. For more than a year the Liberal government has failed to treat the negotiating process with respect and attention.
Students, parents, teachers and education workers have paid the price. It is our hope that the Minister of Education is finally ready to sit down with teachers and education workers and arrive at an agreement.”
