News from the Hamilton Coalition To Stop The War

Hamilton, Ontario, October 21st, 2015 – On Tuesday, October 20th, at a media conference in Ottawa, Prime Mnister-elect Justin Trudeau announced that he had talked with US President Barack Obama and informed him that Canada would be withdrawing its six CF-18 fighter bombers from the US-led coalition in Syria and Iraq.

Trudeau made no comment about the 70 Canadian trainers on the ground in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq.

The Hamilton Coalition To Stop The War is claiming a partial victory in that our year-long petition at Change.org to Canadian MP’s, to withdraw from the US-led coalition to wage war in Syria and Iraq, has been essentially realized.

The Canadian CF-18 fighter-bombers will be flying no more bombing missions over Syria and Iraq!

The Coalition thanks MP Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party, for being the only MP to sign our petition and to the 727 supporters of the petition. It also thanks also Thomas Mulcair, leader of the NDP, for making this a major federal election campaign issue.
