Hey Fellow Canadians – This Coming Monday, October 19th, Go Out And Vote As If Our Future Depends On It!

A Message from Niagara At Large

Did you know that thousands more Canadians die prematurely each year from breathing polluted air than from “barbaric cultural practices” or “terrorists.”

Vote for federal candidates in your riding who care about protecting our environment. Vote for better health care, pharmacare (a universal medial drug benefit plan), public transit, decent-paying jobs and more affordable access to education.

This October 19th is our chance to hire politicians who take matters these and other common good seriously and fire those who don’t.stop harper sign four

  1. I do know that millions in Health transfer dollars from the Feds were never paid out to the Provinces, as per past agreements, also a lot of deaths happened because of belt tightening within the NHS system. I feel that the Feds (Harper) should shoulder the blame.!!!

  2. Last federal election, one third of eligible voters did not vote! Less than a third of all eligible Canadian voters cast a ballot for the Harper government. Get out and vote to renew our democracy, build universal child care, and tackle income inequality. Vote for a policy that welcomes newcomers–and doesn’t care whether they are rich, well-connected to powerful friends, or they are like some who previously gave up their Canadian citizenship before returning to Canada with a welcome out from Mr. Harper’s government. I’m sure you can’t wait either. But how about your friends? Pledge to take action for change and ask five people to vote by Oct 19!

Surely, Mr. Trudeau’s government is not the alternative we want. Consider how many of the “Old-Guard” Jean Chrétien Liberals are speaking for Mr. Trudeau. Consider the Liberal Party’s release of their financial platform. It was done by the Old Boys of Chrétien’s era while Mr. Trudeau was “resting” elesewhere. Was Mr. Trudeau “just not ready” himself to answer questions from the press about the Liberal financial package?

Get out and vote for a real change! What’s the point of just switching sweaters from Conservative to Liberal, black cat for a white cat, and back again, over and over?

As Tommy Douglas said, “You see, my friends, the trouble wasn’t with the colour of the cat. The trouble was that they were cats. And because they were cats, they naturally looked after cats instead of mice.

Presently there came along one little mouse who had an idea. My friends, watch out for the little fellow with an idea. And he said to the other mice, “Look fellows, why do we keep on electing a government made up of cats? Why don’t we elect a government made up of mice?” “Oh,” they said, “he’s a Bolshevik. Lock him up!” So they put him in jail.

But I want to remind you: that you can lock up a mouse or a man but you can’t lock up an idea.”

Okay, mice, let’s vote for change!

  3. Most newspapers are of course backing “change”, as the Toronto Star is publicly endorsing Justin Trudeau for Prime Minister. Here’s another point of view recently published, for at least a balance look… http://www.torontosun.com/2015/10/15/our-choice-is-clear—-stephen-harper
