There’s Nothing More ‘Barbaric’ In Canada Than Stephen Harper

If you need another example of the ‘divide-and-rule’, ‘pit-one-group-of-Canadians-against-another’ strategy the Harper government uses in its rancid bid to keep a rancid grip on power, look no further than RCMP tip line Harper now promises to set up to go after those engaging in “barbaric cultural practices.”

It’s not enough that any one of us in this country can already call the police if we think way are witnessing someone committing an offence of any kind. Now we have to have a tip line.

And notice that the Harper government is not setting up a tip line for white collar criminals rob Canada’s economy of billions of dollars a year or for corporate polluters or politicians and their appointees who steal from the public trough. Why not a tip line for turning in those responsible for the unsolved disappearances and murders of more than a thousand aboriginal girls and women?

No, this tip line is set up to go after brown people – Muslims in particular – who engage in any kind of behavior that seems strange or offensive to Harper’s core base of supporters made up of mostly older, white people who never got past high school and find reading an issue of the National Enquirer a challenge, let alone a book.

This is Tea Party politics Canadian style and it is disgusting.

Harper’s jerk of an immigration minister (sorry about that but Chris Alexander has already proven to be a bonafide, unfeeling jerk on the Syrian refugee issue) had the nerve to say this October 3^rd that the tip line represents another way to “stand up for (Canadian) values.”

What Canadian values is Alexander talking about? The values of compassion and inclusiveness that his boss Harper has been ripping apart the last nine years?

Harper said it is also a way of ending what he called “medieval” practices of “forced marriage” and son on, as if there aren’t plenty of white billionaires out there who don’t do everything possible to force their children to marry someone else in the billionaire club.

And if Harper is so concerned about the way certain groups of people treat women, what is he doing carrying out a billion-and-a-half dollar deal to sell Canadian-made military equipment to Saudi Arabia, which has one of the worst human rights record on the planet when it comes to women and others in that country?

We got to get rid of this Harper government! For the sake of Canada and the historic values that have done our country proud in the decades before this Harper bunch took charge, get out there and vote this coming October 19^th.

By the way, in the dictionaries on my shelves, synonyms for the word “barbaric” include the words ‘vicious’, ‘ruthless’, ‘villainous’, ‘inhuman’, ‘dark’, fiendish’, and ‘diabolical’.

Can you think of a federal party in Canada that fits those descriptions? I sure can.
