NO Tanks, NO Tankers – Community Rally Planned for Saturday July 26th at Conservative MP Rob Nicholson’s Office in Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls, CANADA – In response to the Harper Administration green lighting the Northern Gateway Pipeline Project, Marineland Animal Defense will be joining with community groups on Saturday for a rally out front of Conservative MP Rob Nicholson’s Office (2895 St. Paul Ave Niagara Falls).
The Community Rally is set to run from 1-4pm and will feature local speakers Fiona McMurran (Council of Canadians) and Karl Dockstader as well as information connecting the West Coast pipeline back to issues of local resource extraction and pipelines like Enbridge Pipelines 9, 10 and 11 here in Ontario.
As Minister of Defense, Rob Nicholson holds an important position within the Harper Administration and Marineland Animal Defense along with the South Niagara Chapter of the Council of Canadians, Wild Niagara, the Niagara People’s Social Forum and Boot Out Hate have all joined together to raise awareness in the community about Mr. Nicholson’s role, as well as, to hold him accountable for supporting a proposed pipeline project that is opposed by scientists, dozens of First Nations communities, and the majority of British Columbians.Without consent, and on unceded land, the Northern Gateway Project poses a risk to Indigenous Sovereignty, human health, the environment and wildlife! We hope to stand in solidarity with those fighting this project on the West Coast and remind Mr. Nicholson that “no means no.”

Nicholson will most likely treat the rally the same way he/his office responds to emails _ either a thank you with a message “we will get back to you” (but never does) OR ignore the email entirely. The best messsage to give Nicholson and his mentor/boss is to defeat them in the next election. I urge that we consider strategic voting _ support ONE (1) candidate in the next election to defeat Nicholson.
Message to the Liberal Party and the NDP – cooperate with each other _ nominate only one strong candidate. If either party wants a candidate ominate a weak one. If it is a strong Liberal Candidate, NDP supporters hold your nose _ vote Liberal. If it is a strong NDP Candidate, Liberal supporters hold your nose _ vote NDP. This may be the only way to get our message to the oligarchy ruining our fine nation

John Law wrote an article in The Standard today which was deeply upsetting. I have not been to Marineland for 30 some years, and even then, I was appalled. I cannot believe this dreadful place is allowed to go on and on, supported by Rob Nicholson and his conservative eco-unaware hack of a party. Tourism biz is all, animals of no consequence. Whether you like The Standard or not, reading Law’s deeply depressing article on the State of the Union at Marineland is worth every penny, so if you don’t want to give penny to Sunmedia/QMI then go into the Standard website and search on to be anguished by this story.
