At a time when many of us here in Canada have been getting bummed out over senate scandals in Ottawa, gas-plant scandals at Queen’s Park, a provincial election in Ontario that has to be most un-inspiring in 50 years, here is a bit of news we ought to feel good about.
Ted Cruz, the Tea Party, gun nut senator for Texas, blows away Canada.
Ted Cruz – a Texas Tea Party Senator who, among other things, has joined the likes of other American extremist wackjobs like Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump and an enormous number of others of their ilk, in questioning whether U.S. President Barack Obama was born in the U.S. or Kenya (code for we don’t want a ‘nigger’ in our White House) – has officially revoked his Canadian citizenship.
This is news we Canadians should greet as great.
Cruz, a gun nut, anti-Obama health care screwball and opponent of almost anything else that has to do with environmental protection and so on, was born in Canada some 43 years ago.
Problem with that for this Tea Party nut is it is looking like he may want to one day make a run for the U.S. presidency according to many media pundits in that country. And apparently he can’t easily run for president in the U.S. if he has citizenship papers linking his birth to another country – even if he was born in a region of the country (Alberta) that has a penchant for cowboys, chuck wagons and however much dirty oil.
So good riddance Senator Cruz. You’re giving Canada the bum’s rush is among the best political news Canadians have been made privy to so far this year. Canadians should consider your revoking of citizenship on the same plain as Conrad Black revoking his.
In other words, what an honour to those of us who hold Canadian citizenship cards with pride.

He should be proud of his Alberta origin, but can’t necessarily be criticized for revoking his Canadian citizenship, especially if it is of no practical advantage for his career aspirations in the U.S. As for Ontario, “bend over” people, there’s a lot more coming in the way of irresponsible “leadership”. Look for more increased taxes and spending, higher utility costs and a deeper deficit. The gas-plant scandal is just the tip of the iceberg, so there will be an appeal for the good ol’ Canadian federal government to bail us out.
