Hudak’s Avoidance Of First Leaders Debate Signals Lack Of Leadership –Wayne Gates

News from the Campaign Office of Niagara Falls Riding MPP Wayne Gates

(A Brief Note on this one from Niagara At Large – In fairness to Ontario Tory Leader Tim Hudak, he has reportedly said he couldn’t make this leader’s debate because he had a pre-scheduled campaign rally to attend in the Peterborough area to attend at the same time.)

NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario, May 26th, 2014 – Wayne Gates, NDP candidate for the riding of Niagara Falls, said he’s not surprised that Tim Hudak is avoiding tough questions today by skipping the first leaders debate.

“It’s not surprising that Tim Hudak is ducking Ontarians’ questions at the first leaders debate today. The Hudak Conservatives have been ducking our questions in Niagara Falls for days,” said Gates. “They refuse to answer which Niagara Falls nurses, teachers, firefighters and other service providers are among the 100,000 they plan to fire—just like they refuse to answer our challenge to provide year-round daily GO trains.”

“Tim Hudak is not a voice for Niagara.”

On May 23, the NDP Niagara team issued their GO Train challenge to the Liberals and Hudak Conservatives—whose silence underlines the fact that the NDP is the only party committed to bringing daily GO train service to Niagara.  On May 24, the NDP Niagara team pressed the Hudak Conservatives to tell families whose jobs would be cut in the Niagara region’s three ridings as part of Tim Hudak’s reckless plan to fire 100,000 people—a plan that could mean thousands of direct and indirect job losses in the Niagara region.

“Instead of helping families facing a jobs crisis in the riding of Niagara Falls, Hudak wants to cut more jobs. Instead of helping our local economy by bringing daily GO train service, the Hudak Conservative candidate here said no to GO.  That’s not leadership.  Tim Hudak’s plan doesn’t make sense,” said Gates.

Gates said that, in contrast, New Democrats have a plan that makes sense to tackle the challenges facing Niagara families.

“I know, from being on people’s doorsteps every day, that they’ve heard the NDP’s plan to make their lives more affordable – by taking the HST off hydro bills, or creating local jobs by rewarding employers for each new job they create with a targeted tax credit,” Gates said.

“New Democrats will keep the Fort Erie Race Track open for the long term by returning the OLG slots on a permanent basis. We’ll bring year-round daily GO train service to Niagara Falls. We’ll invest in local schools, so schools like Parliament Oak Public School won’t have to close.  That’s a plan that makes sense for Niagara.”

  1. Here in the Welland area I constantly hear the Conservative and/or Liberals commentators (mostly Conservative) rant about how little Peter Kormos was able to do for Welland over the years (not being in a position of power) Then I have listened to and had to witness the annoying proclamations of the insidious little con man, Hudak, his plans to revitalize the economic situation of Ontario????? Much to my and many peoples disgust it was the Harris/Hudak reign of terror that started the down fall of Ontario to a “HAVE NOT” Province…. through Privatization deals possibly put into play by the Fraser Institute and their sponsor donor in the U.S.A. (The American Enterprise Institute, the Cato Institute and the Americans for Prosperity all co sponsors and donors to the Right Wing Think Tank, THE FRASER INSTITUTE) Then the Liberals, just as adapt at conning the electorate They hastened the swing back to Privatization and Defeatism and this is where Ontario is Today..Lost in a sea of debt.
When the Harris/Hudak Regime was in power…. how much or should I say “HOW LITTLE” did Hudak do for Fort Erie….Hey You conservative know it alls…Please show facts not grandiose illusions to fill the minds of people who did not live in the area or those who don’t give a damn because they lost all hope???
Reality is we have two CORPORATE owned parties here in Ontario whose agenda is written and formulated in Boardrooms for the bottom line on a profit statement and the bank balances of the CORPORATE elite not the Blue Collared or the destitute citizens fight a losing battle of surviving.
