Warning Of Online Scam For All Internet Users

From the Office of Niagara, Ontario area MP Malcolm Allen

Important information regarding internet scam.  Please see email below.

(This office)  received this email at (our) work address.Scam Computer Keys Showing Swindles And Fraud

It is a fraudulent attempt at “phishing” and where the sender has asked for personal information, including  Social Insurance Number.

The website is a replica of the Revenue Canada site but is NOT the official sight.

Revenue Canada does not issue refunds via the internet and, normally, sends a letter to inform people of over/under payments.  This may be important information for people to have during this tax season.

(A Note from Niagara At Large – Below is an example of what was actually sent by these scam artists to a Canadan federal representative’s constituency office in Welland. How bold can these crooks get? Apparently, when the constituency office reported this to the regional police, the police referred the office on to Revenue Canada.

Frankly, we should all find it rather disturbing that our regional police forces has not entered the 21st century in terms of tracking down criminals who are ripping off people online.

Now here is the scam message MPP Malcolm Allen’s office received. Don’t make the mistake of assuming it is legitimate and answering it yourself.)

The NRP and other police forces are too busy picking on john doe citizen with lame assed traffic violations.
I think its time the cops go after criminals with the same zeal they prey on law abiding citizens.
    I don’t know ONE person who hasn’t got a stupid ticket for something….well stupid….
This is not what we are paying cops to do…. we are paying them to go after criminals and EARN the huge salaries they somehow have, through their UNIONS, accomplished.
No wonder policing is one of the safest jobs out there!!!! Don’t believe me check out the stats! Contrary to what their UNIONS would have us believe!
    Just sayin…….

Last week I got a very official looking Email, supposedly from RBC, stating someone applied to withdraw monthly prepayments from my account from a European site & would I please click on the link provided to report this either as fraudulent or to verify it. Obviously I did NOT click here but phoned the RBC & they reported the Email address to phishing. They said they do not contact people by Email, only messages on my online banking site. If I had responded, somebody would have had all kinds of my info. NEVER click on an Email like that. They look very official & of course you don’t want fraudulent charges but that is how they catch you!

  3. NRP or is it NOT REAL POLICE anyway I had reported something of this nature in the past and got the same advice…Great Policing don’t you think
In Niagara Falls a while ago I was being threatened with a baseball bat by a boyfriend of a tenant who was months behind in her rent. I immediately went to the Niagara Regional Police town detachment where I waited and waited for someone to acknowledge my presence , just then in came, what appeared to be a very perturbed young men and He informed me that the business he worked in had been robbed…Finally there appeared a young police officer who told us we would have to come back again later as there were no one to take our complaint…..So much for overtime…..and the Huge remunerations paid to “active officers”
