Many residents of St. Catharines have received robo calls telling voters that Liberal candidate Jim Bradley has been in office too long and to vote for “Irene Lawall.” These calls were not authorized by either the local NDP campaign office or the NDP central campaign.
Throughout the afternoon our campaign office has received a number of calls from irate voters upset that our campaign would tell voters that Mr. Bradley has been in office too long and to support Irene Lowell.
“Despite running a positive campaign that is focused on making people’s lives more affordable, some party or group has chosen to play dirty politics,” Lowell said. “I want to assure residents that I don’t believe in using such tactics.”Although Lowell’s name is mispronounced twice during these calls, they leave the impression her campaign authorized these calls. “We’re the NDP.” Lowell continued. “We don’t have money in our budget to afford such calls.”
Lowell has personally apologized to Mr. Bradley’s campaign and has filed an official complaint with Elections Ontario and filed a report with Niagara Regional Police.
“I offer my sincere apologies to anyone who received these calls and thought my campaign team was behind them. But the party or group that authorized these calls should also be apologizing to St. Catharines residents for this underhanded tactic,” Lowell said.

I believe her comments. We are possibly the only riding constituents who have both a Bradley and Lowell sign on our lawn, personally approved by Irene Lowell herself, and by Bradley’s campaign team. So whoever is doing this is neither NDP or Libs, but probably, well….. anyone’s guess, eh? Hmmmm.
