The three-year-old daughter of Ontario Conservative opposition leader and Niagara area MPP Tim Hudak has been hospitalized at Toronto’s Sick Children’s Hospital for an undisclosed illness.

In a statement Hudak released this June 20, he asked for privacy and added “on behalf of my wife Debbie, I want to express our appreciation to the concern expressed for our daughter Miller. … My family and I are grateful for all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes we have been receiving.”
According to an article in The Ottawa citizens, Miller Hudak was borne in 2007 with health problems that have never been disclosed. “I’d rather not talk about that if that’s OK. There’s some personal stuff I don’t want to talk about publicly,” said Hudak in an interview last year.
“On behalf of New Democrats, our thoughts and prayers are with Miller for a speedy recovery,” said Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath in a statement issued this June 20. “From one parent to another, I wish Tim and Deb strength during this difficult time. We hope that Miller will be home soon with her parents.”
The province’s premier, Dalton McGuinty, phoned Hudak to express his concern.
Regardless of where we are in politics in Ontario, let us all say a prayer for Tim Hudak, his wife Debbie, and their daughter Miller.

I look at the violence in Vancouver, and say ‘that’s somebody’s son”; I read about the devasation in Japan and Haiti and say ‘that could be my family.’ Whenever a child is bullied at school, that could be my child.
Whatever partisan politics exist, we should put them aside. This is someone’s child. Full stop. Thank you Doug for your compassion.

Mr. Hudak deserves privacy on this issue if that is his wish. I agree with Gail that this transcends partisan issues. My sincerest hopes that all goes well.

As a mother and grandmother my heart breaks for the Hudak family. My thoughts and prayers are with them. They are also with the families who have no choice but to take their sons and daughters the c-diff plague infested hospitals in the niagara region. All parties need to stop posturing and CLEAN UP our health care system. They might start with good old fashioned sneakers on the ground and bucket of lysol housekeeping. Cut out the overpaid fat cats and hire more people who actually work. All party leaders should keep this in mind as they aspire to become out next premier. Just saying.

Very good news — Tim Hudak has just released this bulletin: “Debbie and I are very relieved and thankful Miller has been moved from ICU to a regular room where she continues to receive excellent care.”
All our thoughts are with the family.
