The concert, to take place at the Quality Inn Parkway Hotel and Convention Centre on Ontario Street in St. Catharines this coming Tuesday, January 18, will feature many popular area bands (see more details below) and raffles and silent auction. It is aimed at raising as much as $100,000 to help Chris and Sherry Riddick and their two boys, Gibson, 11, and Boston, 3, retrofit their home and purchase a specially equipped van to make home life and travel more accessible for the boys.
The event has been organized by a community group calling itself the Riddick Family Lift Project Committee and starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 with all proceeds going to the cause. The bands, including The Bends, Unruly Gentleman’s Club, Dr. Colossus and Tim Atherton and the Athertones, have donated their time to the fundraising campaign, just as Parkway owner Angelo Nitsopoulus has donated space for it.

Riddick Family Fundraising Committee Announces Entertainment Line Up for Event January 18, 2011 at the Quality Parkway Hotel and Convention Centre.
The Riddick Family Lift Project Committee is pleased to announce our line up of entertainment for the upcoming Fundraising Event, which is being held on Tuesday January 18, 2011 at the Quality Parkway Hotel and Convention Centre.
“Due to the generosity of many area bands we are sure to have a very entertaining and successful night that will assist the Committee greatly in reaching our fundraising goal which in turn will allow us to reduce an enormous burden faced by the Riddick family on a daily basis,” says committee member Don Walker.
The Bends, Tim Atherton, Unruly Gentleman’s Club, and Dr. Colossus have all confirmed that they will be performing and have kindly donated their services to the Lift Project cause. There will also be silent and live auctions as well as raffles that will take place throughout the night and 100 per cent of all funds raised will go directly into the renovations necessary in the Riddick house as well as towards the purchase of a wheelchair accessible van that is needed to transport the two boys in.
“The enormous response from our entire community has been truly amazing,” says committee member Andrew Gill. “I am so proud to be part of our community which has quickly rallied together behind this wonderful family.”
“People always ask us, how do we cope with having two terminally ill children? We tell them it’s not easy but you try and keep things as normal as possible for them. The support we have received from our community has helped keep up our spirits and moving forward while we pray for a cure,” says the boys father Chris Riddick.
Tickets to the event are $10.00 and can be purchased at the door or by contacting Walker or Gill.
