A foreward by Doug Draper
As many fellow residents on the Niagara, Ontario side of our border may know by now, the province’s premier, Dalton McGuinty, is marking Canada Day this July 1 with the launching of a harmonized sales tax – more infamously known as the HST – that will favour big business at the expense of middle and lower-income consumers.
McGuinty, who shows every sign of being a firm believer in the ‘trickle down’ mythology of economics foisted on peoples by the likes of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, wherein if we give huge tax breaks to corporations they may create a few more jobs, is determined to move forward with the HST as a replacement regressive tax for the GST despite polls consistently showing that more than 70 per cent of Ontarians are against it.
Both opposition parties, the Conservatives and NDP, have been slamming the government over this tax for months now, but to little avail. There is little sign the government is listening to anyone but some members of the business community who obviously like the shift of taxes away from them and toward the rest of us.
Ontario Conservative Leader and Niagara area MPP Tim Hudak took another shot at the controversial harmonized sales tax before the Liberal government of Dalton McGuinty slaps it on us starting this July 1.
Below is information released by Hudak and his camp on opposition to the HST

Warn Hamilton and Niagara Families About the HST Tax Grab
GRIMSBY – Today, Tim Hudak and the Ontario PC Caucus demonstrated the countless items the HST will apply to when the tax grab goes into effect on July 1st.
On Canada Day, the McGuinty Liberals HST tax grab will force Ontario families to start paying more for gas, electricity, home heating fuel and dozens of other everyday goods and services that they rely on the most. The Ontario PC Caucus have launched a new poll at www.daltonsalestax.com through which Ontario families can make their voices heard on this tax. The poll is also available on the Tim Hudak iPhone application.
The Ontario PC Caucus was in Grimsby for a caucus planning and strategy meeting. Next week marks Hudak’s one year anniversary of becoming Ontario PC Leader. He is the first leader of a major Ontario party to represent the Niagara region.

Well! When Hudak was a minister in the Harper Government he was one of the most vocal
advocates of privatization and did actually greased the skids for McGuinty and his thugs to push us further into the clutches of Corporate America. God deliver us from these pawns of Greedy Corporations.
