Niagara, Ontario – You don’t have to be a student or a person without a car, trying to get back and forth to a job somewhere in the region, to sign the petition Niagara College’s Student Administrative Council has posted on line, pressing our municipal leaders for better public transit services.transit-bus-pic-file-photo

You can be someone who doesn’t have a car or would rather not use a car to do a little shopping, go out to a movie or get together with friends, or visit a loved one in a hospital.

All you have to do is be one of countless people across Niagara who think it’s way past time this region join the 21st Century with transit services – and not just a Go Train service to and from the Greater Toronto Area – as seamless, accessible and reliable as those Waterloo and other regions across the province have had and are profitting by with new jobs and prosperity for many years now.

Niagara At Large urges you to join the Niagara College Student Administrative Council’s ‘Transit Rivers of Niagara’ campaign and click on the links beloe for the petition and for your chance to share your views on transit services in the region.

“Our campaign is called Transit Riders of Niagara – we’re encouraging Regional and Municipal Councillors to engage in the conversation around transit and move towards one seamless system,” says the Student Administrative Council’s executive director Jenn Howarth.

“Transit Riders of Niagara is not about solely getting GO to the Region – that is only one piece of the puzzle,” she added. “This campaign is to encourage conversation and solutions to move to one seamless transit system in Niagara.”

“The current fragmented system,” says Howarth, “does not allow students or any transit rider to move easily around the Niagara Region. The campaign provides transit users and supporters to share their stories about experiences with taking a bus in Niagara. More work needs to be done – we need to keep the conversation flowing.”

  1. Rural areas have NOTHING. We don’t exist. We must have a vehicle.
