It’s not often we get anti-war speakers of the calibre of Zafar Bangash and Phil Taylor in Hamilton. Zafar Bangash is a world-renowned Muslim scholar, editor of Crescent International, an on-line magazine of contemporary Islamic thought, and imam of the Islamic Centre of York Region in Markham, Ontario.

Phil Taylor is the host of “The Taylor-Report” which is broadcast every Monday from 5 to 6 pm at CIUT.FM, 89.5 on your FM dial, at the University of Toronto. He is also a former investigator at the International War Crimes Tribunal at Arusha, Tanzania and a former US Marine. For our Feb. 2 teach-in, the Hamilton Coalition To Stop The War is pleased to announce a return visit to Hamilton of Zafar Bangash and Phil Taylor, who lectured together here last year on the sinister implications of the Hollywood film, “American Sniper”.

This year, they will speak about how the US empire has produced the catastrophes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Nigeria, Yemen, and Palestine. Learn about what is being done in our name!

What should the peace movement in Canadian do? Find out on Tuesday, February 2, 7 pm at the New Vision United Church, 24 Main Street West, Hamilton L8P 1H2, located across from Hamilton City Hall. Paid parking is available behind City Hall and in a lot behind the church off James Street South. The church, formerly called Centenary United, is located adjacent to the HSR’s downtown bus depot. In addition, the church is fully accessible to wheelchairs. Admission is free.

Copies of Mr. Bangash’s books will be available for purchase and signing.
