Honoured guests will be Cuba’s Ambassador to Canada, His Excellency, Julio Garmendía Peña, Consul General Mr. Javier Dómokos Ruiz, other embassy staff and their families.

All local political leaders have been invitoed to come out and meet Ambassador Garmendia Pena and Mr Domokos Ruiz in a friendly get-to-know-you social atmosphere. The general public is also invited to attend to show local hospitality to a country whose people warmly gree more than one million Canadians each year.

Members of CCFA Niagara would like to see our humble effort turn into a major a major show of people to people friendship with the creation of a Niagara-Cuba Day in time to celebrate 70 years of continuous Canada-Cuba diplomatic relations in 2015.

CCFA Niagara members have directed proceeds of the event to a special bank account to be used to sponsor any Niagara resident to take part in the 2015 Che Guevara Volunteer Work Brigade to Cuba. This is a joint Canada-Cuba two week program consisting of approximately equal parts of volunteer work, education, culture, history and leisure. Dave Thomas, Co-Chair of CCFA Niagara called the brigade program a life changing experience for most participants.

For those with consular questions about Cuba (e.g. – how to do business, marraige, invite a Cuban friend for a visit, professional work, visas, etc.) this is an unequaled opportunity with the presence of Cuba’s Ambassador and Consul General.

Over one million Canadians who visited Cuba last year can’t be wrong, says Dave Thomas, host of the event at his home in the Fort Erie, Ontario community of Ridgeway.

A Taste of Cuba will stir your yearngings for a Caribbean holiday,” said Thomas.

Tickets for the event are $10.00. To reserve on call 905 382-3468 or 905 991-3468.

  2. This event will be held at my home, 1760 Ridge Road, Ridgeway. Note if using a GPS, Fort Erie may have to be entered as the city. We have lots of parking space. Please do not park on the road.
