News from the South Niagara Chapter of the Council of Canadians and the Social Justice and Equity Studies Program at Brock University
On Monday, April 28th , at 7 p.m. in the South Block, Room 201 at Brock University’s St. Catharines, Ontario campus, investigative journalist Amy MacPherson comes to the university with a presentation that’s sure to prompt questions and raise eyebrows.
A gas fracking operation at work in rural Pennsylvania. Do we want this in rural Ontario?
Amy will share candid insights about the impacts of secret government, energy and media relationships on the development of the fossil fuel industry in Canada.
Her recent article resulted in controversy and consequence, for exposing potential conflicts of interest and officials who misled the public.
MacPherson promises to name names and provide dates. She will also explain some shocking developments for journalists who tried to cover the energy file.
She’ll be covering subtopics such as—
- Fracking in Ontario: it’s happening, despite what the government told you
- The hottest fracking real estate is next door to the Bruce Power nuclear waste site
- How extensive are the plans for fracking and where is the government selling them?
- Danger to drinking water from the Great Lakes system, all the way to Illinois
- Who knew about this, and who profited?
- What tactics are being used to muzzle the media and just how deep does it run?
- What happens to reporters who refuse to be silenced?
The session will close with questions from the audience, and we anticipate a respectful, passionate discussion.

Stephen Colbert had on Tom Ridge, former Homeland Security boss & now a shill for the gas & oil industry (who employ the same ad company that said cigarettes are good for you & advertise with a pretty face in a white uniform about the “clean, safe, fuel of the future”…BS!) Colbert read a list of toxins found in the flammable drinking water including benzene & methane. His question to Ridge was “which should I start my toddler on first?” Ridge laughed. LAUGHED!!!!!!!! Callous bastard. We are making North America one massive Love Canal.
