A Commentary by Niagara At Large publisher Doug Draper
It’s as if ‘Tea Party Tim’ and his Tory gang still can’t believe, let alone respect the possibility that the NDP’s Wayne Gates beat his buddy Bart Maves in a by-election in Niagara Falls this past February.

Tea Party Tim Hudak sends this twit Rod Jackson , or whatever his name is, from a Greater Toronto Area mess called Barrie, to slam one of Niagara’s MPPs at a time when we should be working together for a better future here.
In the classic 1970s movie ‘Network’, the character Howard Beale – characterized as “the mad man of the airwaves” – began one f his broadcasts by saying he is “tired of all of the bullshit.”
On that score, here is a little bullshit here that I am getting sick and tires of.
I am talking about the leader of the so-called Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario (I would definitely leave out the word ‘progressive’, simply from a dictionary definition pint of view) … yes I am talking about Ontario Tory leader Tim Hudak, or ‘Tea Party Tim’, as some in the Toronto media have taken to calling him, coming to Niagara, or sending his caucus minions to come here and try to smear mud on MPPs who don’t happen to be members of his party.
Once again, this Friday, March 10th, Tea Party Tim sent one of his caucus goons, a certain Rod Jackson from the Barrie/Greater Toronto Area, to come to a Niagara Falls riding, recently won by NDP candidate Wayne Gates in a by-election, to smear mud on Gates.
Wayne Gates, a former Niagara Falls, Ontario city councillor and labour leader in Niagara, has hardly been sworn in as an MPP at Queen’s Park for a month, beating Hudak’s Tory darling Bart Maves, and already Hudak is throwing mud on him again.
Just because Gates will not, so far, vote on any motion that is a vote of non confidence that brings down minority Liberal government of Kathleen Wynne and triggers an election that Hudak has been chomping at his bit to have for two years now, he is some awful piece of turd that is propping up the Wynne government. All that according to some worm named Rod Jackson, who is a member of Hudak’s caucus and is a representative of Barrie who probably doesn’t have a clue kwhat Gates has tried to do here to help a Niagara with serious challenges.
This Tea Party carpetbagger – this a no-name nothing around anything ever to do with helping Niagara called Rod Jackson (and I hope some of the people in this worm’s riding of Barrie catch this post) – had the nerve to come to Niagara this Monday, March 10th and leave a message that says “Gates Chooses Liberals Over People Of Niagara.”
I’d like to ask Jackson and his Tea Party leader Hudak this. Where were they when Gates and other members of the Niagara community held rallies around saving hospital service in Niagara Falls and Welland over the last few years? Where were they, when Gates was there, around trying to save good-paying manufacturing jobs in this region and others in Ontario?
Where are they around fighting for a higher minimum wage or, better still, a livable wage for hard-wording, Ontario citizens?
At the end of it all, I would like to ask Hudak and his party where are they on offeing an inspring and hopeful vision for Canada’s future rather than simply shitting on the oppsition.
Niagara At Large is now going to post the sewage this moron Jackson has had the nerve to fire at Gates below. And let this site assure you of this, if Wayne Gates screws up, we will nail him on it. We are not partisan here. But this crap from Hudak and Jackson is what it is.
It is what Howard Beale would say is “bullshit” and we should be ‘mad as hell and not take it anymore.’
From the office of Tm Hudak – WAYNE GATES CHOOSES LIBERALS OVER PEOPLE OF NIAGARA FALLS
NIAGARA FALLS – “Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates showed his true colours when he cast his first vote in the legislature – to prop up the Liberals,” said Ontario PC MPP Rod Jackson.
Jackson was reacting to Niagara Falls’ MPP Wayne Gates first act in the legislature. Instead of standing up for the people of his riding, Gates chose to prop up the Liberals on yet another confidence vote.
“During the by-election, Wayne Gates said he would fight for jobs and the hospital,” said Jackson. “But with his first vote he chose to support the same Liberal government he railed against throughout the campaign. What kind of message does that send to families in Niagara Falls?”
“Wayne Gates promised change, but the truth is he’s just another vote for the Liberals at Queen’s Park.”
(Niagara At Large invites you to share your views on this post. A reminder that we only post comments by individuals who share their first and last name with them.)
We have reached the point where Hudak is so full of shit, his eyes are brown and it is running out his ears!!
I know you probably shouldn’t post this, but it is the way I feel!

Tim Hudak is frightened about what is coming down, what I see is that a lot of former Green Party voters switched their votes to the NDP this election, because they could not vote for the Liberals and had to stop Hudaks anti-union antics, I worked as a poll worker two elections ago, that election the Green Party had a lot more votes then the NDP, the Greens will vote strategically if it has a purpose. The purpose make darn, sure the conservatives did not take control, here in Niagara, Tims days at the helm of the Conservative Party of Ontario are numbered, his policies scare the living daylights out of the average voter out there. Wayne Gates is a known number and is rational, I used to pass him every day at GM St Catharines, he is a serious and hard working guy and does have solutions to our woes here in Niagara, The Green Party had a very good candidate, but the prority was kick the Libs out and keep the crazy Conservatives out as well.

I think you took care of any comments required already Doug.
Where was TimBits when we were fighting for our hospital & all of our industries closing? NOWHERE IN SIGHT. Who was there when I was out with the Yellow Shirts?….Horwath & Gates. Suddenly, when an important by election came up he was a good old Fort Erie boy again. Bullshit. Most people in Fort Erie that I know who know him can’t stand him. Some are dumb enough to believe his home town shtick. He’s just a political hack who uses & abuses people to meet his own agenda & advance his career ie a typical politician by today’s standards. The sad part is, when he finishes sucking the public teat as he has done all his life, although he hates it that others might do the same (just like the selfish tea partiers he idolizes) he will be appointed as some CEO or to another executive post for which he will be equally unqualified.
At least Gates has a working man’s background & thus some comprehension of REAL people’s problems. I can bet Timmy would be terrified to break a nail.

We’ve reached the bottom of the barrel, Doug.
It’s no longer voting for the best of the best.
Now we can’t ever discern the best of the worst.
I swing conservative but I can’t find enough character, integrity, trust,or even a drop imagination in any of these parties.
Perhaps the ‘Open letter to the citizens of Niagara’ could shed a little light on the situation: http://newsalertniagara.blogspot.ca/2014/03/an-open-letter-to-citizens-of-niagara.html
So, what do we do now?

We know how the Ontario PC’s lead by Hudak works. It is similar to the Harper Conservatives. Hudak follows Harris who followed US Tea Party ideology as Harper follow US Tea Party ideology and Reform. Their process is divisive and they hope to divide the province and country up just enough to get more seats without actually having the majority of the popular votes. It is an ideology from late 1800’s were the wealthy hold all the cards and the rest hold the bag.

It seems to me that Hudak doesn’t really care about the people of the Niagara ridings, just about his own agenda….If anything he should have been a good sport about the whole thing and to realize that the reason they went with someone else, in this case Wayne Gates and the NDP party is because his party didn’t do ANYTHING to make jobs her in Niagara as Hudak has been bragging about for so long….The sheer arrogance of Hudak and his Conservative party is unbelievable and I think that instead of using all of his energy smearing Wayne Gates and his ideas, he should have been using it to create a better Niagara through this Rod Jackson character who also has done nothing to re-impress the voters here in this region….

Thank You George and LInda for your characterization of a true clown. Yes Wayne, Andrea and many of her Caucus along with the Yellow shirts and others like MP Malcolm Allen who cared joined in the fight to save the hospitals in Fort Erie, Port Colborne Niagara Falls and Yes Welland even though the Welland “A” Team under the mayor would have nothing to do with supporting the effort, if fact he “originally” refused to allow Bob Saracino to speak before Council and thank the people of Welland for their support.
Hudak once a Liberal and whose parents were unionized teachers is a loose canon speaking with a forked tongue that rants and raves like a sick lunatic or a bratty child whose presence is an embarrassment to many sane one time Conservative Party Members.
Linda and I attended every meeting, rally and/or protest and I agree never once was Hudak or any members of his loud caucus present in support. The ONLY Liberal was MPP Craitor the retired Liberal member who Wayne Gates replaced in Niagara Falls…….. to the chagrin and whining of Hudak…Grow up fool
Thank You Doug, Will, George, Linda, Gerry and to a lesser degree Preston.

Well,we are well into another Election mode, and the Niagara Falls Review had an insert by Bart Maves, which featured Wayne Gates’ smiling face and a list of high paying companies that have left Niagara, hinting that Unions were the reason that these companies left.
The Conservatives under Brian Mulroney with intense lobbying by The Chamber of Commerce of Canada, and with local Chambers support, brought in NAFTA , the vehicle used to strip Canada of it’s manufacturing base , sending all of our good jobs to the Southern States and Mexico , The Conservatives and the Chamber, will not take ownership of the most devastating deal to hit our Country. They have the audacity to blame the very people who fought tooth and nail against this monsterous and illogical means, of enriching the already super rich oone per cent. Meanwhile, the small shopkeeper and restaurant owner, no longer have any more customers.and find more and more taxes downloaded onto them.
