Annual Labour Day Demonstration To Go Ahead In Front Of Marineland Despite Court Actions

A Message from Marineland Animal Defense

(Niagara At Large is posting the following message from the Niagara, Ontario-based citizen activist group Marineland Animal Defense or M.A.D., for short, to supporters of its campaign to end the keeping of whales and other mammals at Marineland’s Niagara Falls amusement park.)

We have two demonstrations fast upon us.

First off, we return to site tomorrow with our first announced demonstration since the Judge Lococo ruling. It’s a bit of an annual tradition to demonstrate outside the park on Labour Day and we will be out from 12-3pm tomorrow providing that alternative message and raising awareness. If you can spare some time – please join us. For folks confused or afraid about demonstrating on site after the court order was handed down please read our FAQ’s and know that our marshals are there to help make a safe, legal and peaceful demonstration for everyone.

Second, we have a demonstration coming up fast in Toronto on Monday September 9th at Madeleine Meilleur’s office to coincide with the re-opening of Queen’s Park. Maddy has the ability to issue an immediate moratorium on the import/export of wild caught animals and we need to send a strong message that we won’t settle for hollow promises and political posturing! It’s been a year since the OSPCA investigation began and there is still no substantive change to this industry.

Aside from that we’ve been keeping the issue in the local press. Stories about Marineland have continued steadily for over a year now. This upcoming demonstration has been covered and both outlets QMI and Metroland.

Since our last update we’ve also thanked the Canadian Civil Liberties Association for having our back! Their submission in our case was seen by Judge Lococo and we appreciate their support – especially on the rushed timeline.

Two Social Media Tuesday images attached. We also caution to all those reading down to the very bottom that we have some very big news to share this coming week for the “Festival for the Animals” – stay tuned!

Donations – we (M.A.D.)accept donations to our paypal: marinelandanimaldefense@gmail.com and can also arrange for cash/cheque pick up’s and drop off’s
