Happy Holiday Season to All of our Niagara At Large Readers on Both Sides of the Peace Bridge and Beyond

A Brief Message from NAL publisher Doug Draper

Posted December 24th, 2016 on Niagara At Large

Wow, is the eve of the end-of-year Holiday Season. It seemed like only a few weeks ago that I was walking with my wife Mary and friends, watching the sun set on a beautiful spring evening off the shores of  Cape Cod Bay.

Our canine mascot Pinky joins us in wishing you a warm and peaceful Holiday Season

And now here we are with only a week left until the end of another year and all of those ghosts of old friends and relatives from Christmas past sitting a around the dining room table. There are more of them with every Christmas that goes by.

But they are mostly nice, warm memories that I savor as I am sure many of you do when you think of all the loved ones who have left us from Holiday Seasons gone by.

Enough of that though.

This Holiday Season, I wish to thank the growing numbers of people who are visiting Niagara At Large for news and commentary for doing just that, and for encouraging your friends to join us in trying to make sense of what is going on in our communities and around the world.

I also wish you and your loved ones the best for the Holiday season and for the year to come.

We’ll be back here next week and, we hope, for many more to come and with your help – something we want to talk to you about later – see what we can do to build Niagara At Large as the most vital, no -holds-barred, go-to alternative voice for news and commentary in this greater Niagara region and beyond.

We will be talking to you in the days ahead about how you can help make that happen because we can’t do it alone – even with our trusty canine mascot Pinky and our team of cats, including our correspondents Leo and Felix in the Berkshire Hills of Massachussetts. and Tigger, who holds court at our favourite Thorold pet food store.

And last but not least, we have our top cats, Dylan and Dexter, right here at home with no interest, whatsoever, in joining us on a car trip to the Berkshires to visit the other two. But they have no problem with us taking a trip to the pet store to visit Tigger, just so long as we pick up some food for them while we are there.

Pinky, by the way, who has dual Canadian/U.S. citizenship, is still trying to get over her political hero Bernie Sanders losing the U.S. Democratic primaries to Hillary Clinton, then Clinton losing the presidency to – God help us all – Donald Trump. And I’m with her on that.

But we’ll leave more about that for later on too.

Have a warm and peaceful Holiday Season folks. And keep the faith because despite what any of the powers-that-be may say or do to try to discourage or stop us, we are still going to have OUR REVOLUTION!

Best wishes for a fulfilling holiday season. Enjoy time with family, including pets! Thank you for your contribution to our community of readers. Your writing keeps us not only informed, but also, more importantly – thinking. Your writing is direct and well thought out. You touch on important subjects of interest to our Region (on both sides of the border). Niagara At Large is the only real “newspaper” we have any more.

Thank you for your tireless efforts to keep it going and us informed. May 2017 be your best year ever. Somewhere, I can assure you, your gifts to our community are making beautiful music! Peace.
